The Surat Initiative, a Sikh educational and advocacy group, hosts events such as this Turban Day at Union Square in downtown Manhattan. Young Sikhs tied over 700 turbans on fellow Americans, informing them about the significance of the turban and raising awareness of the Sikh American community and the Sikh tradition.
