The Hindu Society of Minnesota held its first formal services in a repurposed church in 1979. Within twenty years, the society bought land to build a new space for the area’s growing Hindu population. Inspired by the Varadaraja Perumal Temple in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, the Hindu Temple of Minnesota is the new spiritual center for Hindus in the state and surrounding region.
