Rema Nararajan, a Humphrey Fellow at the University of Maryland, spoke about India to 4th graders from Capitol Hill Day School. The students toured This is Our Land: Discovering America and the World through Original Illustrations from Children’s Books, an exhibition organized by Meridian International Center and featuring artworks representing all 50 U.S. states and 20 countries. Ms. Nararajan, a Cultural Consultant for Meridian’s International Classroom program, read an Indian book for which one of the artworks was created and gave a brief presentation about her homeland.
Cultural Consultant Jelka Klemenc, a graduate student at George Washington University in Washington, DC and a native of Slovenia, gave a presentation about her country to a 4th grade class from the DC Preparatory Academy. Her talk was part of a school tour of the This is Our Land exhibition on display in Meridian International Center's Cafritz Gallery.

Cultural Consultant So Rie Lee read to children and families at Meridian’s This is Our Land opening event. Born in South Korea, Ms. Lee wore traditional clothing represented in the children’s book While We Were Out by author/illustrator Ho Baek Lee.
