U.S. Mission to the European Union – Alternative Energy Reporting Tour: A Program for European Union Journalists

Working in conjunction with the U.S. Mission to the European Union, the U.S. Embassy in Berlin, and the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest, Meridian International Center organized a weeklong program for five European journalists and media consultants to travel to the U.S. in order to enhance their understanding of American energy security and alternative energy efforts. Topics of discussion during the program included hydraulic fracturing, wind and solar energy production, smart grids, and the commercial potential of such alternative energy sources. Through meetings with government agencies and offices, environmental and energy lobbying firms, media enterprises, and energy companies and stakeholders in Washington, DC, and Pittsburgh, PA, participants were able to glean a better understanding of alternative energy policy and use in the United States.
