IVLP Impact Award Project: Empowerment to Fishers

The project equipped 150 artisanal fishers with knowledge about the adoption of responsible fishing practices. To raise awareness of Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing practices, community sensitization events were organized, with drama and cultural performances to help promote the cause. Anti-IUU posters on topics such as chemical fishing, light fishing, and unauthorized fishing nets also were created and shared on social media platforms to generate public and political support opposing IUU.

"It is my utmost wish that the project will be continued and expanded to increase the understanding of my fellow fishers in other fishing communities to deeply understand the impacts of IUU fishing.” - Project Participant
