The IGNITE project took place in the city of Heraklion (island of Crete, Greece), but was available for participants all over Crete (hybrid). The project supported 113 teenagers between the ages of 13 and 18 with a particular focus on including participants from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. The project featured a two-day bootcamp where participants learned problem-solving and design skills. The bootcamp also featured a presentation on opportunities for students in the USA to promote US-Greece exchange. In addition to the bootcamp, there was a 3-day workshop for students and teachers on the topics of failure and resilience, innovation & entrepreneurship, leadership and teamwork, and emerging technologies. The IGNITE project exposed participants to a range of global opportunities. It also encouraged cross-cultural exchange and collaboration, which helped to build bridges between the Greek and American communities. Through the project activities, participants gained practical skills and knowledge that were useful for their future education and career prospects, and they were inspired and motivated to pursue opportunities that lead to sustainable development.
