IVLP Impact Award Project: The Digital Legal Outreach for Conflict-Affected Businesses (DLO-CAB)

The Digital Legal Outreach for Conflict-Affected Businesses (DLO-CAB) initiative is a three-month project to support SMEs, startups, and medium-sized enterprises in the Gaza Strip. Utilizing digital technologies, DLO-CAB provides essential legal counseling and support, tackling issues such as regulatory compliance and business recovery in an emergency setting. By leveraging digital platforms and cultivating local partnerships, the initiative ensures that critical legal resources are both accessible and practical. DLO-CAB is dedicated to addressing immediate legal needs while also promoting resilience and stability among businesses. It lays a foundation for sustainable growth and recovery in the Gaza Strip, demonstrating the impactful role of technology and collaboration in transforming challenging environments.

Kanan’s project has hosted several virtual legal clinics and workshops covering regulatory compliance, contracts, and business continuity planning. The team has also adapted the clinics to cover new topics based on weekly feedback, ensuring businesses receive timely, relevant information.

The virtual legal clinics will continue until the end of October. Kanan has emphasized the power of legal knowledge and has stated that his main goal for the project is to provide “access to educational resources and virtual workshops that empower businesses with a better understanding of their legal rights and responsibilities.”

“With the DLO-CAB initiative, my aspiration is to weave a tapestry of legal empowerment and resilience for the businesses in Gaza. This project is more than just a platform; it's a beacon of hope, illuminating a path to justice and prosperity in the face of adversity. - Kanan Alsourani
