Confidence Staveley is an award-winning cybersecurity professional, digital development enthusiast, author and entrepreneur with over a decade experience in technology. She believes that Africans, especially the most vulnerable, should have access to technology and be equipped with cyber-risk and mitigation strategies. Confidence recently facilitated CyberSafe Foundation’s collaboration with the UK government to implement a cybersecurity intervention in response to the heightened cyber-attacks during the COVID-19 pandemic. This tool provides the the user with proactive preventive measures and practical steps to stay safe as they navigate the digital world. Confidence is also passionate about closing the gender gap in technology and has launched two initiatives: DigiGirls and CyberGirls.

IVLP Impact Award Project: Promoting Cyber Security for Seniors

The Promoting Cyber Security for Seniors project was a 3-part miniseries targeted at delivering relatable and educational cyber awareness video content to seniors. The project promoted the Sabi Toolkit – the first truly Pan-African cybersecurity awareness toolkit. 52 participants shot 3 educational videos based on the Sabi Toolkit in Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria. Since the mini-series premiered across various platforms, it has reached thousands of people. The video ‘Hattara Dai’, which was filmed in an indigenous Nigerian language, was able to promote cyber awareness into the Northern, more rural parts of Nigeria.
