This project supported 20 female media professionals by teaching standards in investigative reporting and journalism ethics. The participants were selected from organizations such as the Mass Media Agency or were students from Jigiga University in the Somali region. Participants were equipped with the expertise necessary to conduct advanced radio and television interviews and were empowered to incorporate investigative practices in their writing.
Bishar participated in the IVLP Project Edward R. Murrow Program for Journalists - Research and Investigation organized by the U.S. Department of State and FHI 360, in partnership with World Affairs Council of Kentucky & Southern Indiana, International Institute of Wisconsin, and Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy.
Bishar's exchange experience led to the development of his IVLP Impact Award Project: "As an IVLP participant I learned that challenges in investigative reporting are not only in my country, rather they are global challenges that journalists around the world are facing."
