Brice Delagneau has been working in environmentalism and social entrepreneurship for 18 years. He supports communities in Côte d'Ivoire to become more resilient to the effects of climate change. Additionally, he collaborates with companies who have implemented sustainable practices to better promote their work. In addition to these roles, Brice works to raise funds for development projects in the regions of Côte d'Ivoire.
Since 2005, Brice has been a part of the NGO AMISTAD. In his role with the NGO, Brice has focused on climate justice and the development of women and youth. He works to remove barriers preventing youth and women from gaining economic independence and empowers them to create methods to contribute to the economic and social development of their communities.
The project supported young men and women living in the coastal areas of Côte d'Ivoire through a beach cleaning and sustainability trainings. The project featured 50 young men and 50 young women volunteering to clean the beach of San Pedro. The project helped youth commit to raising awareness about pollution, beach maintenance, and supervised swimming. Over the course of the project, volunteers collected over 2,000 kg of trash during beach cleanups. Inspired by the project, 60 participants created a company focused on waste management. Additionally, the regional office of tourism selected 10 students and will train them in management of ecological campsites.
Brice was a participant in the IVLP Project Combating Illegal Fishing in Lakes and Coasts of Africa, organized by the U.S. Department of State and American Councils for International Education.
Brice's exchange experience led to the development of his IVLP Impact Award Project: "During my IVLP, the visit and the exchanges we had with the Massachusetts Environmental Police allowed me to understand the role of volunteers in coastal protection."
