Chiang Kai-shek, President Franklin Roosevelt, Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and Madame Chiang met at the residence of the U.S. Ambassador to Egypt for the Cairo Conference in 1943. The leaders discussed China’s critical role in the war in Asia, as well as the country’s status as one of the allied Great Powers.
