An avid stamp collector, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt often suggested themes, colors, and even his own designs for stamps, which he used to help boost American morale. This commemorative stamp, released just seven months after the United States entered World War II, recognized Chinese resistance against Japan and featured portraits of President Abraham Lincoln and Sun Yat-sen (Sun Zhongshan).
