Rap music came out of New York City’s African American communities in the 1980s and has spread in popularity around the world ever since. Rapping, or MCing, is all about stage presence, which is why it makes for a lively competition, as seen in The Rap of China. In 2018, the popular American rap group Migos joined Kris Wu and MC Jin as ‘star producers’ for the reality show.
