Two broken vertebrae couldn’t stop American Alex Honnold, the focus of the Academy Award-winning documentary Free Solo, from climbing Getu Arch in Guizhou. Despite injuring his back days before the trip, both Honnold and Brazilian Felipe Camargo completed the steep climb. Honnold commented that it was “one of the most impressive long routes I’ve ever seen.” Their accomplishment was recorded by Chinese American Jimmy Chin, a fellow climber and photographer/filmmaker.
