Chinese martial arts first became popular in the United States in the 1950s with the help of a growing number of action films that featured the combat style in their storylines. One of the prominent martial arts training centers in the United States is Shaolin Temple USA, founded in 1994 by Shaolin monk Shi Yan Ming. Shaolin Temple USA has some American celebrity followers, including actor Wesley Snipes and rapper RZA, a founding member of the Wu Tang Clan.
