Chandra Sena Gooneratne earned three degrees in comparative religion from The University of Chicago, including his doctorate. During his studies, he joined the school’s varsity polo team and frequently spoke on local radio about current events in India. Gooneratne also toured the United States as a Redpath lecturer to raise awareness about India. His subjects included “The Soul of India,” “Indian Poetry,” and “Youth and the New Age.”
