President Theodore Roosevelt’s sons, Kermit and Theodore Jr., journeyed throughout Asia to collect specimens for the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, Illinois. While in Kashmir, the Roosevelt brothers were joined by their wives, Belle and Eleanor, who sheared their expedition beards. Eleanor wrote that after twenty minutes of trimming, “It was a relief to see their faces again.”
