Mohan Singh attended the Curtiss Aviation School in California, where he earned the nickname, “The Flying Hindoo.” Singh and his fellow classmates – including women and other international students – studied flight with American aviation pioneer Glenn Curtiss from 1911 to 1912. Singh later purchased his own hydroaeroplane, which he flew home in stages to India.
