Tuesday, March 30 | 4:10-5:50 P.M. EDT
As the Biden administration works to craft its defense and security plans for the next four years, Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee Adam Smith (D-WA) will join us to discuss the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) priorities for Fiscal Year 2022 and how a renewed defense strategy will serve to help rebuild the United States’ credibility and strengthen our relationships abroad. Through a moderated conversation and Q&A, the assembled foreign ambassadors and private sector leaders will hear the Chairman’s perspective on pertinent topics such as U.S. involvement in the Middle East and ongoing matters concerning China and Russia. Chairman Smith will also discuss the difficulties facing the military today including how to modernize U.S. forces while leveraging the government’s relationship with the private sector to combat national security challenges. Washington Post's Missy Ryan, reporter covering the Pentagon, military issues, and national security, will moderate the conversation.
The program will take place on Shindig, an innovative platform where ambassadors, senior diplomats, and private sector leaders in attendance can network through self-initiated private video chats. While the speaking program is open press and on the record, the networking portion of the program will be off the record. Please contact Julianne Juarez for more information.
