DESCRIPTION

By 2050, one-sixth of the world’s population will be 65 or older. While this demographic shift poses challenges in the workplace, healthcare, technology, and housing - especially in the post-pandemic world, there are also many opportunities to harness the social and economic power of a multigenerational society. Given its rapid pace of population aging, Latin America and the Caribbean have started to demonstrate ways to take advantage of those key opportunities that accompany demographic change. What are innovative ways to encourage healthy aging around the world? What are areas of cooperation that governments, the private sector, and multilateral organizations can collaborate to support this population? This discussion will also explore the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing and launch AARP’s latest edition of its internationally acclaimed publication, The Journal, which profiles healthy aging in Latin America.
