New !!! Online Teacher's Guide (In pdf format): This guide contains information about the exhibition, children's book illustration, art terms and techniques and provides teachers with educational activities for the classroom.

Based on the extraordinary success of our current traveling exhibition, Once Upon a Page: The Art of Children's Books, Meridian has joined forces with the Mazza Museum in Findlay, Ohio, to create a new exhibit.  This delightful collection, entitled A Carnival of Animals: Beasts, Birds and Bugs in original Illustrations from Children's Books, features depictions of walking, swimming, crawling and flying creatures from all seven continents.  It contains works by artists famous for their contributions to children's literature, as well as representations by illustrators from other countries and examples drawn from Mazza's historic holdings.

This visually diverse presentation is augmented by a full-color catalogue and poster, a teachers' guide and an explanatory video.  Many books for which the illustrations were created accompany the show.  Designed to inform viewers of various media used by illustrators, the process by which art is transformed to the printed page, and artists' approaches to perspective, A Carnival of Animals is an ideal vehicle for partnerships with local schools, libraries, community organizations and businesses.  Links can also be made to zoos, natural history museums and environmental groups.
