Since its founding in 1851, the Singer Manufacturing Company has dominated the world market with its sewing machines. By the end of the nineteenth century, the business had a network of offices spread across the globe, with thriving operations in Bombay and Calcutta. Cards that advertised the latest machines were distributed at the World’s Columbian Exposition in 1893.
