OBJECTIVE

The Government of Colombia intends to improve its port security infrastructure in order to build on the country’s pro-market economic expansion policies and enhance its global competitiveness. The U.S. Trade and Development Agency is hosting this reverse trade mission in order to showcase U.S. products, services and equipment in the ports sector including security systems and controls, surveillance equipment, and vessel traffic management information system technologies. The visit will also highlight U.S. best practices that can be implemented to improve operations and efficiency within the Colombian port system.

The delegation will include representatives from the Ministry of Transportation; the Superintendency of Ports and Transportation; the National Directorate for Taxes and Customs (DIAN); the ports of Barranquilla, Buenaventura, Cartagena and Santa Marta; and a Foreign Commercial Service officer from the U.S. Embassy in Bogotá.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR U.S. COMPANIES

This visit will enable U.S. companies to connect with the delegates, receive the latest information on developments in the ports sector, and learn about project opportunities. Meet with key decision makers directly responsible for upcoming procurements in Colombia’s ports sector by:

  • Attending a Business Roundtable in Miami, FL (Tuesday, September 6) or in Long Beach, CA (Tuesday, September 13), where Colombian delegates will present commercial opportunities for U.S. firms in the ports sector;
  • Participating in a reception for the delegation following the Business Roundtable in Miami, or in one-on-one pre-scheduled meetings with delegates following the Business Roundtable in Long Beach; and
  • Hosting the delegation for a meeting or site visit to highlight your company’s port security and VTMIS technology in Washington, DC (September 8-9); San Diego (September 12); Long Beach/Los Angeles (September 13-14).
